Teresa Jordan, who was interviewed on the Women Go Raw tour has created recipes for an INCREDIBLE 5-day juice fast. Ariel and Teresa teamed up to work on an ebook that combines the FUN CREATIVE recipes of with CLEANSING TIPS, how to get started and MUCH MORE!!!!

http://www.lulu.com/content/e-book/secrets-to-a-5-day-fun-juice-fast/8162029

This is no ordinary fast! The recipes are incredibly original and always evolving. Teresa uses the creativity from her cleansing experience to further evolve the juice recipes and tips. Incredible! So enjoyable! She even created delicious”juice soups” for those who would like to warm up their juicy experience. As if that were not enough, she then invented a combination of juice/tea using some of the most delicious teas from Celestial Seasonings. These are all caffeine-free of course!!!!!! Enjoy these recipes and watch your health transform and your age reverse!!!

From Andrea Livingston, executive chef of Women Go Raw:

I used to think that green smoothies were the love of my life. I still love them but I have a new joy…green juice! I have always juiced and enjoyed it but I decided to make it a daily thing in my diet recently. I try to have at least one quart of green juice a day, preferably first thing in the morning followed by a chia seed pudding a couple of hours later (recipe to come in next post). Last week I participated in my first group cleanse with Elaina Love, David Rainoshek, and Chris Whitcoe. It was all raw and living foods for a week, one day of blended food and one day of juice and water followed by a flush (Kris Carr who wrote the book Crazy Sexy Cancer has a great article on her site at crazysexylife.com/2009/the-gallbladder-flush). Back to the green juice. I have been enjoying the same juice every morning now for about a couple of months and it looks like this:

Green Juice
1 bunch of celery
1 cucumber
7 kale leaves (curly or lacinato kale)
1/2 bunch of parsley
1 lemon
1 apple

I have a greenstar juicer and I absolutely love it. Its the only juicer I have owned so I’m not sure if there is something better out there but most people who have the greenstar also give it a thumbs up. If you don’t have a juicer you can always blend up your vegetables and then strain them through a cheesecloth or better yet a nut milk bag which you can purchase on Elaina Love’s website at www.purejoyplanet.com.

See more about Andrea and her amazing recipes at her blog: www.phytofoods.blogspot.com

We are in San Francisco and visit with Absolutely Abeba. Abeba took her love for chips and her love for raw food and created something truly beautiful. There are no crackers like Krazy Krackers. The raw food community needs to take note! Abeba puts her mix in the BLENDER so her crackers are razor thin. Her recipes have just the right crunch as well! I personally LOVE Krazy Krackers.

Her book is: Absolutely Abeba’s Krazy Krackers, by Abeba!

Here is one of her incredible recipes:

CORN CHIPS! (These are WORLD FAMOUS!)

6 to 8 ears—Corn
3/4 cup—Sunflower Seeds (Soaked overnight)
1/3 to 1/2—Red Onion
1/3 cup—Ground Flax Seeds
1/4 tsp—Cumin
Cayenne—dash
Celtic Salt—to taste

Mix corn, onion, sunflower seeds in food
processor (can use blender), but I prefer
processor, the crunch is better. Add,
remaining ingredients and process well.

Drop by spoonfuls on Teflex sheet.
Dehydrate for 10-12 hours at 105 de-
grees. Flip krackers and remove Teflex
sheet. Continue dehydrating for 8—10
hours or until desired crispness is ob-
tained.

Yields 2 trays or approximately 90-100
krackers

ENJOY ALL OF ABEBA’S INCREDIBLE RECIPES. GET YOUR OWN COPY OF HER BOOK BELOW!!!!!!!

I met Susan Schenck in September, while doing the RV tour and got to recently meet with her again a few days ago. I loves Susan’s quest for information about what will truly make us optimally well and slow the aging process. She has also been very dedicated to researching raw food information and sharing it with the world in her comprehensive book, Live Food Factor. It is one of my favorite resources to recommend because of the studies and research about raw food that are described in her book. You can check out more about the book here:

http://www.livefoodfactor.com/specialoffer/index.php?af=1048723

We discuss concerns about soy, as mentioned below. I thought it would be fun to give a couple of recipes from Susan’s book. She has 120 recipes in her book:

Nut milk
1 cup nuts (almonds or others)
6 cups water
Soak nuts overnight in water. Strain with nut milk bag. Makes about 6 servings.

Strawberry Shake
1 batch almond milk
2 qt basket organic strawberries
1 T vanilla extract
1/2 cup agave (or 1/2 tsp. stevia – Dr. Ariel’s addition)
2 T coconut oil
Blend in blender, Vita-Mix or Blend-Tec and enjoy!!!

In this clip, we touched a variety of topics that are covered in her book including enzymes, healthy gut bacteria and which foods are not “raw” though the package might state that they are raw. One of my favorite topics comes at the end of this clip, as we talked about some of the concerns about soy products. Cooked and processed soy products are not part of the raw food diet, obviously. But people do consume miso and nama shoyu (a kind of raw soy sauce) in the raw food world. Susan mentions that originally soy was a by-product of paint production, and the Dupont company was seeking a consumer base to sell this by-product. I have not researched this, so I do not know if it was true. If it is, she describes it as a kind of PR campaign that was used to convince people that the soy would be a great source of protein for vegetarians. And remember, toxic sludge is good for you, high fructose corn syrup dangers have not been refuted (by the company that produces it), and Cocao Krispies improve your child’s immune system (not kidding, a real campaign, I saw it myself on the cereal box at Albertson’s!).

Enjoy this clip. I will be adding more. And check out the Live Food Factor, a must have if you are trying to master live food nutrition!

I also wrote an article for Herbivore magazine about the controversy over soy a few years back. Here is a link to it:

http://doctorariel.blogspot.com/2008/04/wondering-about-soy.html

This an all time favorite with my family and friends. It is very easy to make, kids love it and its a great dessert to wow people with that aren’t familiar with raw food! Any nuts can be used for the crust. I prefer to use pecans. Be careful not to over process the crust as the nuts will release oils and it will become too greasy. Enjoy this torte topped with fresh fruit (strawberries or raspberries) or sprinkle shredded coconut on top. Keep it refrigerated until serving so that it is nice and chilled. If left out at room temperature for too long it will soften (still yummy but not as much like a pie, more like a pudding). Enjoy!

Crust:
2 cups pecans
½-1 1 cup pitted medjool dates (or enough so that when you squeeze the crust it holds together)
1 teaspoon coconut oil
Pinch of sea salt

Pulse nuts in food processor until slightly crumbled. Add dates and pulse a few more times. Add coconut oil and sea salt. Pulse until uniform and crust holds together when you squeeze it between your fingers. Press into bottom of classic 10 inch tart pan.

Filling:
2 cups cashews (not soaked)
¾-1 cup cacao powder
1 ½ cups water
½ cup coconut oil
¼ cup agave (or to taste if you like it sweeter, less for more bitter)
½ vanilla bean seeded
Pinch of sea salt

Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour over crust and refrigerate until firm (1 hour in refrigerator, ½ hour in freezer)
